People always moan it's tactics or such, but half the time it just feels absolutely random.

Check my previous thread.

Look at the results, I keep standard home and away tactics and edit the ever so slightly each match. I win my previous away games 3-0 and 4-2, then lose a week later 5-0 to an amature non-league side. Then I beat two of the biggest teams in the league 2-0 and 3-0, only to lose to the bottom team in the division who hit one shot on target to my dosens, playing against the same tactic that got me 3-0 away wins against title challengers.

I can't figure out why on FM08 I can take an Irish team to the group stages of the Champs league, but can't beat random bad sides and find playing greyed out teams like facing a Marvel All Star 11.

The "Grey" teams do seem to be stupidly good, I will admit. In Gundo's Challenge, many people have troubles beating them in the cups, and I've lost a few times to "Barn Utd" and clubs of the such, even after dominating the game.

However, I am 100% under the illusion that its tactics to blame for the Lack of goals scored, and not some superbug. I Am by no means a"fan boy" who loves defending the game, as there are many aspects i'm unhappy with, but For me, It took about 7 seasons to find "My Tactic" and now i'm well on my way to my 8th league title in a row, scoring bundles and conceeding few along the way. (Im Knockbreda of N. Ireland too, so hardly a world Class Club). I've rarely had to tweak my tactic, only if a new player gets into the first 11, and there has been no "Reset" thing for tactics where the computer just seems to "figure it out"......

Mate, you can claim they are open chances, easy chances or golden chances, the fact of the matter is, I create the same amount of chances as you, and i RARELY win less than 4-0. I spent a very very long time on my tactics, and its paying off...

what formation do you play? and are you tweaking individual instructions for each player or for each position?

It's your tactics. I've been on the other side of it several times. First season back in the Prem with Leeds I beat the big four 1-0 away each time, with no more than 3 or 4 shots on target. They all beat me at home strangely and I havent had a clean sweep since, but it happens. Change your tactics during the game as well as at the start.

Also been in several situations where I have all the play, all the chances, but no goals by 70 mins or so. But just changing the tempo usually helps me score a couple in the final 20-30mins.

The ratio is unrealistic, I can't deny that, but it isn't insurmountable.
