I am guessing you are using the game editor supplied by SI (pregame editor) & not a realtime editor (like FMM) :
1. after you create your player you have to start a new game. this is due to the fact that it is a PRE-game editor.
2. The number of players loaded at the begining is based on your preferences (i.e : database size, nations selected, league detail etc.)
3. This said, if you can't find the player, try starting a game where all players from his nation/league are loaded (you can select this when you begin a new game).
