I have real problems here. No matter how well I am doing I dread the opposition going down to 10 men.
I try tweaking attacking tactics i.e. upping tempo but nothing works. So far this season I have been ahead in 3 games against teams with 10 men and drawn them all through late equalisers. I think I only scored one goal as well.
If you're ahead I wouldn't up the tempo. Slow it down, stretch the game. When winning against 10 men I always put tempo quiet low (not time wasting), width very wide and passing very short.
Also, see what formation and style they play. For example if they change to playing 1 upfront you could chnge to 3 at the back and have the extra man in the midfield. However, if they play long ball and generally miss out the midfield that is not a good idea and maybe having 4 at the back with an extra forward on would be better.
I also feel playing against 10 men AI is somewhat tough. Playing more aggressively is a strict no no, unless you are losing. What has happened is they have nicked goals on counters. When leading and playing against 10 men, i put an extra player in the middle of the park...and make my dfensive players more defensive, like rare forward runs for full packs etc
I definitely widen a bunch. If I'm down a goal or tied I crank up my attacking by about 3 or 4 notches. Other than that, I don't make a lot of changes. If I'm ahead I will widen but do almost nothing else.
change where you attack, eg if their left back is dismissed change your settings to 'attack on right flank' or if they replace an attacker and eave 1 man upfront, change to man marking and set your strongest defender on him so at least they cant score
