It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I use the diamond midfield, with dyer or sieberski playing behind martins and amieobi(however you spell his name). Put Parker or butt in front of defence and use two fast wingers. I have got martins scoring 40 goals a season using this method. The only time you need to change is with teams like Man utd etc. As they break real fast.

I got good results (7th in the league, QF of the UEFA Cup in Season 1) by playing a standard 442.

Using Emre properly is vital: I set him up as a playmaker, and have Parker beside him to cover the defence and mop up any loose balls if he hits the odd wayward pass

Use Sibierski up front as a target man and play balls in to his head, he can score from a huge amount of headers this way, and his knock downs can get picked up by Martins.

I also used a Quick tempo and Direct passing for almost the whole season, this suits the starting Newcastle squad a lot better than a slow buildup. They also have a fairly pacy defence (Babayaro, Taylor, Bramble, Ramage) so you can set a high defensive line and counter attack to hit teams on the break.

Yep, got a flat 442 with long arrows to FR/L on the MR/L. I use Team Mentality a couple of notches below normal for away and above for home games with the DC's and defensive MC set to a couple of notches below centre on the mentality slider.

Tempo set to two notches above centre and Closing Down 3 above for all the team except the defensive MC and centrebacks again (DC's on low mixed and MC dead centre) and I never lower that even for away games.

Erm...Creative Freedom left dead centre for all 11, Width goes from Narrow Away to near Wide at Home. Defensive Line 2 below centre away to centre at home (usually).

What else is there? Oh aye no Tight Marking or anything ticked.

2nd first season and won UEFA Cup and currently about 10 points clear in season 2 unbeaten and conceeded 3 I think it is in about 15 matches. If you need any more info let me know

Thx FrazT. Followed one of the fellowmate's suggestion. Using CMaddicts Tactics. 1st season not bad. Got 2nd. With lots of $$ flowing in after selling some players.

I agreed with u. Start Nufc with flat 442 with wingers farrow up to amr/aml position. during mid game. they start losing. so i changed to 442 diamond. i tried play emre as AMC. to my surpise. he played well and scored a few for me. As for Ameobi. he.. scored... 20+ goals for me. more than martins. I got eddie johnson too. he scored abt 30+ for me. that's y i got 2nd for the first season.
