Default Malling's 4-2-3-1 - A RoO set of pure brilliance (for 8.0.1)

Hey all, I have build a set of tactics, with 5 different tactics to use + a SUS to kill the game and a GAG to get a goal.
The idea behind the five tactics are simple;

The formation is a 4-2-3-1
With;
2 DCs
2 FBs
2 MCs
2 AML/R
1 AMC
1 ST

In the GAG (Get A Goal) formation, it's like the AI's 4-2-4 formation

Control;
This is the most offensive tactic (except GAG). Also it leans up the attacking system, but this is used against VERY defensive og weak sides.

Attack;
You either away and the clear fav. or at home, just being simple fav.
Your players will try to seek ways to attack, and your backs will try and support your wingers in attacking plays.

Balanced;
Balance system is simple. 50% attack 50% defend, both parts are equally important, and in games where in doubt, it's a great starting system.

Counter;
A system where the players are looking to defend instead of attacking.
The way for your players to score in this system is to counter the opp.
Used against teams in which you mean their attacking quality is superior against your defense, or if the midfield is better than yours, then use this.

Defend;
Well, either you'r Lyngby from Denmark against Barcelona, or your up 2-0, against a way stronger rival, and think it's time to switch tactic, in that case switch to defend.
Your players will try and keep possession, playing directly balls, and they will concentrade 100% about defense, and will not care about attacking.

Mentality;
Well, RoO is used.
So in all systems (Not GAG), mentality is like this:
GK; x
CBs; +1
FBs; +2
MCd; +3
MCa: +4
Wings; +5
AMC; +6
ST; +7

Team Instructions;

As I use 5 different tactics, my team instructions variates from, fx, Attack and Defend.tac.
But lets have a look at all of them, just shortly;

Control Attack Balanced Counter Defend

Mentality Attacking Attacking Normal Normal Defensive

Passing Short Short Mixed Direct Direct

With 20 16 12 8 4

Timewaste Low Low Mixed Normal High

Offside Yes Yes No No No

D-Line
The same as the MCd mentality (the middle of team mentality)

Focus Passing;
Control: Passing Focus Down Both Flanks
Attack: Passing Focus Down Both Flanks/Mixed
Balanced: Passing Focus Mixed
Counter: Passing Focus Mixed/Down the Middle
Defend: Passing Focus Down the Middle

Tackling;
Control: Heavy
Attack: Heavy except for defenders (normal)
Balanced: Normal except for defenders (Easy)
Counter: Easy
Defend: Easy

Tweaks to make on your own;
In no tactics the tempo is set, so you will need to do that on your own, and they can variate.
If low or mid table team, and keep it simple so that when short passing slow tempo, direct passing fast tempo.
If being a great side, then try and pretend like this is the factor where in you can say if you believe the opp. is better than you or not. The greater the opponent, the slower the tempo.

Invidual instructions;

Wide players (wingers and FBs) FWR;
Control: Often, Often
Attack: Mixed, Often
Balanced: Mixed, Mixed
Counter: Rarely, Mixed
Defend: Rarely, Rarely

Defender marking;
Control: All zonal/loose
Attack: DCs man/loose
Balanced: DCs man/tight
Counter: All man/tight
Defend: All man/tight

Defender passings;
Control: Short
Attack: Short
Balanced: Direct
Counter: Direct
Defend: Direct/Long

Through Balls;
Control: All outfield players Often
Attack: Five Often, Five Mixed
Balanced: All outfield players Mixed
Counter: Five Rarely, Five Mixed
Defend: All outfield players Rarely

Cross From;
Control: Wingers cross from byline, full-backs from byline
Attack: Wingers cross from byline, full-backs from mixed.
Balanced: Wingers cross from mixed, full-backs from mixed.
Counter: Wingers cross from mixed, full-backs from deep.
Defend: Wingers cross from deep, full-backs from deep.

Results;
Country Team Media Prediction Ended EURO Cup
England Man city 14 1st None Arsenal knocked me out
Spain Real Madrid 1 1st Won CHL Won
France Marseille 2 1st Semi-Finals(v barca) Won
Denmark Lyngby 11 3nd (1st. next season) None Lost final to FCK
Netherland Ajax 2 1st. Final (v Real) Won (Played final vs 2nd team)
Italy Juventus 7 1st. None Inter knocked me out
Germany Bremen 2 1st. Won (Luckily) Won
Ukranien Shakhtar 2 1st. Barca knocked me out after group stage. (WON CUP)

would you be kind enough to put it up for DL?
Designed my own set based on the TT&F made by wwfan and his team myself, but dont think i got it totally right. Spend like 10 4 hours just implementing so not too keen on doing it all over again, with the fear of doing it wrong again. Dont have a printer so its kinda hard to do.

thanks !=)

Remember wwfan's TT&F theoresm, is based on a standard 4-4-2, with arrow in some of them.
Mine formation is a bit different, simply because 4-4-2 is to easy and to borring to play with

I definatly agree! Think that was part of my problem aswell. the 442 is simply to easy for the AI to deal with.

Used your set for 5 games now and crushed everything so far. (Villa 2. season).
Is this your set, or Mallings? Or do you just have a diffirent nick here than on fm-b?

anyways, think you might consider writing something about tactic selection, as this is the most importante factor in this game. There are a lot of people in here simply trying to find one "super tactic" to use, so might be hard for some people to cope with 5 tacs. But it is about time people in this forum realise that you cannot acheive constant success with one tactic, without tweaking. The match engine simply wont allow that. The AI will also learn to deal with you in the end. So a tip to everybody on here, begin using a set if you really want to manage, and not play "transfer manager 08" :p.

Therefor some might appriciate a little explenation on how to use a set. Or just put up a link to fm-b where this has been discussed before.

Not saying you cannot succeed with another approach than this, but its without a doubt a lot harder. If you want to get rid of the frustration a lot of fm players infact deal with, simply begin using a tactic set,learn to read the AI, and select the right tactics. This way you will have a solution for every scenario, and also the upperhand on the AI.

Anyway the set is great, good job m8!

Yeah well, your probably right. But I just find it easier to try and learn it from there.
Normally when discussing when to use the "attack.tac", people say "When you are heavily fav.", well I disagree.

If being a bad team against a great side, in for instance European tournaments, well your team is far more motivated in most games, for instance in group stage. So sometimes it will be possible to surprise your tactic starting out attacking, and switching to counter later on.
So I believe that people should learn on their own.
So instead of following guidelines, then follow your guts, and use the tactic you believe is right.
If you think your team should win, use attack.tac, if you think they are a bit better than you to keeping possession, use counter.tac.
If you think you'r lucky being in front 1-0, then go to defend.
It's really logical all of it

And yes, it's my set.
I just didn't realise my nick was different here than at FM-B (stupid auto-login)
