No problem with the team from where I can see it - not the worst in the conference but a fair enough choice.

Also many people playing 03/04 have said they've found the thrid division not a very big step up and have been in a similar position to you and got promoted twice in a row. From there it how well you pick up players for the second division and you've obviously done alright for yourself.

You could always apply for any available conference jobs if you want to start back at the bottom with a tougher challenge. One of the teams promoted will certainly test you!

Welcome smc415.

Yeah the big hump is Div1.

As for your run, Div3 & Conference are very close in quality of players and now with the new promotion system you do not have to be first post the post to get on the road to the PL. The run can be stifled at different stages, dependent by stadium size, financial position, squad depth, and luck.

Luck can play a pivotal role. Loose your Rock of Gibraltar DC midseason with a broken leg, and it could all go pear shaped.

I agree. I'm with Cowdenbeath in Scots D3 in my seconseason after narrowly missing out on promotion last season by 15 points and three places.I'm currently half way through the season and in the top three in a bit of a battle, I feel quite proud of myself in doing so too. Makes a change from being fired after 6 months, anyway.

Now after 6 months of relegation battling, I've just been offered a job at Bristol City (mid Div 2). I turned it down as I didn't feel I'd earned it.

I try to do that too. I was offered a job in the English Conference and rejected that because they were 17th or something, but then was offered a job in English D3, which I thought was a step up, so rejected that too. If I get Cowdenbeath promoted, then get the same offer, I would take it. Maybe.

Lower down the league systems i.e. Conference level and equivalent you always get a bit of impetus after a promotion and I find the players make the step up well and often you can find yourself in the promotion running come the end of the season. Although I always find the season after that I'm prone to relegation Probably put too much faith in the squad that's achieved concurrent promotions and forget to invest in some players that can actually do the business in that particular league
