Default LLM CM0304 - database size.

i am planning to start a LLM game in Scotland with England and possbile Wales/Ireland\/N Ireland as back ground leagues.

Does Medium database have enough players or is Large Database a must?

thanks

Two Nations with Large Database will be painfully slow. Medium Database only has about 40% of the available players.

Your choice.

I was playing 22 leagues in my last save with small data and it zipped along.

I've just started a new save and have upped to medium data base and it is crawling, It's a choise we all have to make, speed over reality and game play. There are plenty of things to do while waiting for the game to update, though there is no way of getting players from a small data base.

I'm currently playing an 03/04 game with England/Scotland active, a medium database, and a .ddl that includes all nations of the British Isles. Doesn't seem to be any shortage of youth/frees but I'm only about a month in. Do you really think without the 'huge' DB I'll be having problems finding players in a couple of years?

I ask because I upgraded my comp to 2.7ghz + 512MB DDR Ram soley for the purpose of CM and it still runs disappointingly slow even with these settings.

kaiserf. Don't tell us about files that interfere with the "pure" installation of CM, please.

It muddies the water and makes new guys believe that "spawn" use is ok.

Btw, if anyone doesn't understand what I'm saying and tries to justify or dignify the use of .edt, .ddt, init.cfg or any other configuration shÃ*t I'll ban their arse!

Iaj, please, very sorry, I must not have interpreted the posts about rules, etc. correctly, my fault.

Of course, I'm not ? the ethics of LLM here, but could you point me to a post that contains an analytical justification of banning .ddl files? I'm only curious about how you equate the use of .ddl files, which grant no explicit advantage to any particular team, with .edt or init.cfg files?

{correction: I suppose it grants an advantage to teams operating in the British Isles? Am I answering my own question here?}

{corections v2.0: mmm...please don't ban me, I'm not trying to dignify/justify the use of these files, i'm just curious why it evoked such a virulent reaction?}

Read my post in two parts, kaiserf.

The first, which is specifically to you, where I request that you don't advertise the use of the aforementioned files (note "please", all very polite), the reason being that some dumb twát sees a post like that and starts off on a 3rd Party update, spawn of Satan, player-naming-type post - the "floodgate" scenario.

The second part is to warn the shermans who will undoubtedly not understand the first part of the post and my reasons for posting it.

4 years of experience of that very situation in LLM under my belt.

main difference between medium and large is that medium comtains all players from all divisions in selected countries, as large has all players from selected countries.

So if you select england with medium database it gives you ~4000 english players, while large gives you ~10000. And as those extra players are from lower leagues or players without club its obviously the choise for llm if your comp is fast enough.
