You correct
that one!!
In answer to the question, starting at the bottom of the ladder always seemed to be to be an entirely logical thing to do. Few people walk into a first managerial post with a top team, those that do do so on the basis of their playing ability, and often fail to translate this into success as a coach. So, when I played CM, I played it on this basis. I found this made the game varied (always different teams, always different players, always different challenges), challenging and interesting (never knew anything of the German regional leagues before CM!).
The team I support is Northampton but I have never started a game with them. Once, quite a way into a game, they were struggling at the bottom of division 3 and I accepted the vacant post, leading a miraculous survival charge in the last six games, but that is the only time I have managed them. My first game was with Morecambe, as I used to live near there and watched the shrimps on many occasions, since then I just pick a league I fancy and then a team that takes my eye.
