I know that I'm not allowed to brag but this is leading somewhere.
In my first season in the conference ever, I've somehow managed to get Forest Green promoted and win the FA Trophy, all by playing to the rules of course. I finished in third place on 85pts equal with champions Margate and runners up Farnborough, Margate had only +2 better goal difference and Farnbourough +1 better than me. How close was that? I beat Halifax a stomping 6-0 aggreagte in the semi play off and farnbourough 2-0 in the final.
I couldn't help mentioning this as I am over the moon and jumping for joy.
Anyway, now at the start of a new season in div 3, will the football be totally different this season? Is it much of a step up, do I need any major changes to my tactics to match the div 3 teams. In reality the conference sides play on pitches that resemble my local park and some of the division 3 teams will have fantastic pitches, does this have any bearing on the way the games plays. Will my team play better on a better pitach or will they be used to the rough, overgrown, uneven swamp that part-time teams play on.
Also, will my club now be upgraded from part-time to full-time.
I'm not asking for tips. I am wondering wether or not the pitch conditions in reality are reflected in the game. And my final question speaks for itself.
I accepted that my wrists would be slapped for bragging before I put the post out.
As for my questions, thanks for your excellent response Muss!!

a) You do conference club a disservice. Many have facilties better than football league clubs.
b) You haven't watched much 3rd division football lately. Except Hull and Huddersfield there aint much swankiness in the 3rd.
Up until 01/02 reaching the 2nd Division afforded you full-time status, it had nothing to do with the number of full-time Staff. LL Clubs in Scotland never became full-time. I played in the UEFA Cup final with Albion Rovers as a part-time Club.
back to back promotions with my italian 3rd division side, treviso
(let me finish..)
First season was quite easy, second season in serie b was the most remarkable fight i've had in years. top team had 78 points, the next 5 (!) had 76, including me. Made it to the serie A on goal difference. Talk about a photo finish. I've never been so nervous as in the last three games
And playing the serie A with a third division quality side is hilarious. I get smashed, bashed, molested, toyed with, teased, bent over and asked to pick up the soap.
So i reapplied for a serie c club again and decided to take my time to reach the top...

As for CM4 and 03/04, no idea.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
In CM4 I had Montrose become a professional club, but it took a couple of seasons at SPL before it happened. I think it had to do with Essex Man's critical mass, because a couple of season with no part timers still showed me as semi-pro. Not sure what at what point it changed, but I just happened to notice the upgrade one day
