without a doubt the league is better than a cup, but you just don't get that cash hit in the league.
Even say winning the Scottish 1st division only gives you 150k.
Get one of the old firm away and your minted.
It happend in *real* life to Brechin City, they got rangers Away when they were in the 3rd and they are now in the 1st division, I think they got about 500k too.
I certainly enjoy trying for cup runs - they helped my Halifax team out hugely in CM4 when I was running over my wage budget, gambling on greater squad depth to have a cup run and regain the cash. FA Cup yielded some, but the Vans was most interesting...the two Sheffield clubs were both in it and I faced both of them away over a couple of years and got near capacity crowds and a nice fat cheque - strangely I played Utd away in the FA Cup the same season and got only half the crowd - seems the good folk of Sheffield were Vans Trophy crazy, but couldn't really be bothered with this pointless little FA Cup thing!
In general though the league is far more important than the cup of course, but when cup runs finance my promotion pushes I'll happily accept them
