I've just noticed something that might explain quite a lot.
My players are excused from training between 14th December and 32nd December. Not surprised they haven't pointed it out to me yet, the lazy gets.

I remember seeing an interview with Daley Thompson in his prime when he said he always trained on Christmas Day because he knew his rivals didn't and he wanted to gain an advantage.

But I don't think even he ever trained on the 32nd of December...
