Hey, you scrumpy-guzzling t-osspot! You've got a short memory, eh?
It was _me_ who always stated that no harm would be done naming well-known players and regens, and it was _me_ who was shot down in flames for saying it. I _also_ was the principle proponent of being able to name a default tactic when updating on your current game.
Time and tide changes the coastline, though, and the LLMers as were, and the LLaMas as are, soon found out that the naming of players and tactics brought a deluge of A-holes who thought that's what the Forum was for.
The Rules and Guidelines were gradually changed in order to stop this happening, as was the ban on updates.
I'll happily take the flack for anything I'm responsible for, like SWYCT or the Find Function/Transfer Screen "ban", but I where I don't make, or in some instances agree with, the rules I certainly enforce them
Do you actually still play CM, btw?

I put the memory loss down to old age, in fact for the same reason I'd question your recollection of that? I'm sure you were hardline against the L9L guide thread because of tactics and stuff but maybe it was the using find player menu"country name" trick that got your dander up
I've started playing CM4 again after buying it on day of release playing it twice and binning it. Currently managing Hradec Kralove in Czech Div 2. on the tactics side is it just my team or are 90% of goals (for and against) due to 1: One/two man break aways with a long ball over the top or on the floor past the last man or 2: defenders not marking properly going 2-1 against a winger leaving the striker alone in the 6 yd box or some other such nonsense that would never happen. This could be explained by my zonal marking but turning on man to man usually results in the idiots marking a striker tight high up the pitch leaving loads of room behind them for getting burned by the old pacey striker through ball/ball over the top trick or never closing down some dribbling AMC, ever!
I've always liked to play short passing but I'm on the verge of giving up and joining the dark side by playing a defensive counter attacking long ball game with three up front with a dead pacey striker in the middle.
