Default Toucline Ban

Since when has a touchline ban stopped you talking to your team at half-time?

"TURIN, September 28 (Serie A) - Torino coach Walter Novellino has become embroiled in controversy going into Sunday's city derby with Juventus.

That has a double-meaning going into Sunday's showdown between the two sides after someone, a mole perhaps, told the football authorities at Parma on Wednesday that Novellino had been in the changing room for the first half of the game despite being told he had to serve a touchline ban.

Novellino was not supposed to be anywhere near his team, but according to media reports, he was in the changing room at the Tardini Stadium and escaped detection by hiding in a container on wheels that carried players' dirty clothes."

Indeedy. Mr Mourinho was the first to apparantly do this.
So, to actually answer the question, since always!
I think you took the words "touchline ban" a little too literally. It's more a of a total ban, otherwise there's no point.

there is no point in the ban to be honest... pre-match and half time there will be contact between players and the manager via phonelinks etc. Infact it wouldnt surprise me if they use wireless connections to use video feeds... if I was running united in real life I know I would have this set up to yell at my players if need be
