Default High creative freedom = long shots, back passes and nothing else?

As stated in the topic, I whenever i give my playmaker (Matias Fernandez) alot of creative freedom, all he does is make tons of long shots and occasionally some back passes. Is that all to it?

Giving players a lot of creative freedom will mean they are less likely to follow your instructions, especially so with strikers and shooting. So they will be taking more long shots in the hope of scoring a long range Alonso-goal, which they rarely get. I always keep creative freedom a little below halfway.

What are his Decisions, Creativity, Passing, and Teamwork stats?

I'm basically looking for very high attributes in all four of those before I'm willing to give somebody high creative freedom - and I usually get some brilliant passes as a result.

Also, what instructions have you given him for "Passing" and "Tries Through Balls"?

I play with a formation that uses 2 AMC's and I give both of them high creative freedom and free roles and fine that they both perform very well. I certainly don't notice an abundance of long shots and rarely see them pass backwards if they have a better forward pass that they can make.

But as Amaroq says, certain attributes are important.

I always think decision is an very important attributes, especially for the MCs as they are going to make most of the passing in the game.

A player with hight decision attribute will often make the right decision whenever they see fit.

I think high creative freedom does result in too many long or hasty shots, and I am reworking its impact slightly for the 8.0.2 update.

Cheers,
Paul

If a player has 15 for creativity I give him 15 for creative freedom and accordingly with everyone else in midfield and up front.

Great! I myself only have problems with DMC's long shots, and sometimes ST's. But I rarely play with high creativity

Hope it don't ruin my tactic

Currently have All forward attacking players on No creative freedom, no long shots, short passing and cross often to near post. The results have been astounding, turning 30 goal a season srikers into 50+ and 15 goal a season strikers into 40+ ......

Good on you Paul. Also please look at players who have "Shoots from Distance" as a PPM. Because I lowered creative freedom, and gave instructions to shoot long "rarely" and these players were still a problem in this respect. Van Der Vaart for instance. If you have through balls set on maximum then the player should try those more than long shots which are on mixed or rarely.
