I think that this would be a nice feature to implement. I don't know whether it could be done in a patch or would have to be in next years game.
There would be an optional box on the new game screen called "show player values". You could untick this box to not show the value of the players. This would be good for us experts of the game, and it would also be more realistic as managers in real life have to value their own players and players of other teams.
I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but their are hidden player stats now, so I can't see why it would be too hard.
And I know there are other issues that need fixing but I just think that this would be a nice feature to add.
I only came up with this idea last night, as I wondered how managers work out the value of their players.
Asking the assistant manager would also be good, and your scouts could come back on scout reports and say something like, "I value this player at around 3m, but <the club> would be looking for around 3.5m".
We had a similar discussion a while ago about this. Personally I think the "real" player values is something only viewable to me, to use as a guide when I set the asking price. Otherwise I should be only able to view:
1) The asking price
2) The price which my scouts/coaches recommend
I agree. In RL, you don't get a list of players with their value next to them, and besides, how could you tell anyway? I think this should be in the game nice idea
In my opinion I think that the concept of 'Value' as calculated by the code and shown in a player's profile should only be shown for human controlled teams to give the user a yardstick for what their players are worth. This in itself could be optional for users who want it selected as the OP suggested.
Sale value could still exist as it does in the game but only be revealed in the circumstances where interest is generated in a player whether between AI-AI or AI-Human controlled teams. For me this would be a more realistic representation of the transfer market in the real world whereby the value of a player is what the club is willing to accept for a player.
Then the sale value only becomes known directly to teams who enquire about a player, or to other teams via leaks to the press or rumours. This wouldn't necessarily have to be implemented via the news inbox as this would probably lead to information overload. Instead it would appear in a player's profile. Although the news inbox alert would still occur for players on a manager's shortlist as it does currently.
For example a player would have two values in his profile:-
1. Sale Value: If you directly enquire about a player this value is revealed. Otherwise it is listed as unknown.
2. Reported Sale Value: This value would appear for players that have had enquiries from other teams and would represent the sale value as speculated by the press. This value might not necessarily match the sale value as determined by the team who own the player concerned. When there is no interest in a player this also appears as unknown.
Both of these values could have a timeout function whereby the values return to an unknown status if the potential transfer falls through and interest in the player dies down.
I also agree this would enhance the game, since, you wouldn't be misled from the AI....
Player value = £1,000,000
Asking price = £12,000,000
If theres no value, and they flat out ask for £12,000,000 ... its then up to you [me] to decide if the player is worth that.... ... love the idea.
