I'm well under my transfer budget, but I'm recording a loss every month. What's going on?

Transfer budget has nothing to do with losing money.
You'll have to check your "income" and "expenditure" screens to see what's going out and what's (not) coming in.

Normally you get a lot of money in the summer from season ticket sales and TV revenue. It is possible to make a loss every month during the season and still make a profit from the whole season

Pay less wages?
I dunno. It's difficult, because 85% of teams lose money every month. So you're not the only one, and usually there's nothing you can do about it.
What team are you, and what league?

Playing as Lewes in Blue Square South, losing approx. 10k a month.

the only advice i can give you is to get promoted as quick as possible, tv money is the main income for me atm, i get 1.6 mil profit each month now that im in prem, promotion is the way forward...btw are you from lewes?

Try getting rid of dead wood, lower the win bonuses, offer lower contracts, and doe something perhaps, that i did in FM06 a LOT

sign players my scout reccommends as free transfers, then sell them on straight after. Worked well in FM06, not tried in 08.

This may be viewed as a "cheat" or an "exploit" of the game, but can be a quick-fix for your lower league club that's leaking money fast.

Arrange a fiew friendly matches between your U-18 (youth) team and clubs like Athletico Madrid C, Barcelona B, Real Madric C, Bayern Munuch II, etc.

I did this as a way of providing regular fixtures for my youth team players first of all, to help with their development.

I soon found to my surprise that each match was recording a sell-out attendance and with my Hyde United team in the BSN, a revenue for each friendly match of about 80k to 100k.

That being said, it depends how you play the game and if your a serios LLaMa, it would be highly frowned upon - no disrespect to LLaMa's intended.
