Default What stats do I need for scouts to get transfer info?

Sometimes my scouts actually come up with relevant info about a player, not just ability/potential. I get something like "It will take 5m euros to buy this player, he'll ask for 20k wages".

What stats should I look into for a scout to make sure I have this information every time I scout (or as often as possible)? What stat needs to have 20?

It depends on 4 factors as far as I can tell:-

1. Judging Player Ability
2. Judging Player Potential
3. Reputation
4. Current Ability (Hidden)

3 and 4 affect the extent of the report along with how many times they scout a player (report card only, 1 match etc.)

Sometimes a player just isn't interested or the club doesn't want to sell so it won't matter if he has the max values for 1 to 4 he still won't be able to give you that information.

Why would reputation affect whether the scout finds out how much the player would cost? It doesn't make any sense.

Current Ability is a "sum of all parts" stat, it should have no bearing on transfer info. A scout with high coaching stats but crap scouting stats can have a higher CA than a scout with great scouting stats.

I was looking for an answer that identifies the relevant stat, likely to be one of Adaptability, Determination, or Discipline.

tbh, its a combination of factors, and i still havent worked out exactly which ones!! i always try and sign scouts with high determination, as well as the usual j/a and j/p, i saw on another thread that tactical knowledge was useful for them too. im yet to work out why some scouts come back with all the info you need/want frist time,and why others with "better" stats have to have a couple of goes at it!

Same scout, same player.
Report Card only.
Used FM Modifier to alter the scouts CA/PA value but none of his attributes. The time frame was short enough that the game did not automatically adjust his attributes to reflect his new edited CA when I got the report card.
Same game reloaded from same point rather than changing his CA in the same game to negate the possibility that getting consecutive report cards results in more information being revealed.

Look at the difference in the information obtained from a report card only by varying CA:-

Reputation(s): 7000; CA 140, PA 140

Reputation(s): 7000, CA 195, PA 195 (no change in visible attributes as all I did was change CA and PA using FM Modifier).

Whether or not the change in CA will cause the game to adjust his attributes automatically is irrelevant as it clearly shows that the game code references CA and PA (or maybe CA only?) in deciding on how much information to reveal. So if you take two scouts with identical CA but a different distribution of attributes you’ll get the same level of detail.

To answer your question there is no relevant attribute, just CA or PA or a combination but most likely CA alone.

Thanks for the research, isuckatfm. I guess I was wrong of me to expect SI's game design to follow common sense. Why would an arbitrary number affect the quality of the reports rather than his qualities?

This means that a normal FM player (say, with no access to the Internet/guides/forums) can't determine which scouts to hire. After all, you can't scout scouts.
