Before I write this, I'd just like to make it clear that I'm not whining about losing or anything like that.
Anyway, has anyone else had trouble finding a medium concerning their tactics while playing FM2008? Admittedly, I'm not the best with tactics/training, so when I try to play with just about any team with my own tactic set, I do poorly.
When I use most of the popular tactics from the tactics forum, I'm invincible and I rarely ever lose.
Either way can get tiresome and boring, and I still can't achieve that happy medium (challenging, but not too challenging)
My MCs were getting 6-7 no matter the quality of the player, then i decided to try one of my AMCs that play as a MC too. The name is Pedro Ken. In my game(2009) he has almost all atributes 12+. Have work rate, off ball, team working and tech 16, and have pass 17.
His Last ratings was 6-8-8-8-9
his instructions are:
Mentality -> 4 ticks above normal
the rest is team
I'm currently in the process of downloading several proven tactic so I can see where I'm going wrong.
It seems to me that because of the varying different settings for styles of play, which should be simple and straight forward; i.e. short, long and direct passing + the mentality and width etc etc, SI have over complicated things.
Teams don't play like robots with 6,7,8, or 9 as settings for attacking play or the style of play. It also seems apparent that whether you have a particular setting for mentality set at 8, or 6, or any other number really, against one team, may hinder your progress against another team.
I find it all very confusing, and can't put any realism or logical thought towards what setting the mentality of my midfielders / strikers should be set at. That also goes for any other setting, where there is more than one slider setting.
I can't find a good medium
