I had a player die in CM2.
Didn't check my news and he just wasn't there for my next game. Went to news and it said he was struck by lighnting. Harsh way to go!

Well cancers not a virus but hepatitis is.
It's more common than you might think...even footballers could get it...and if SI have added as much as they can to improve game realism then they could well have added something like hepatitis or another virus.
Oh and for the gigglers out there it's not always sexual...

Many versions ago I once had James Milner retire at 19 years old through injury because he bruised his shin. Never seem to see players retiring through injury on this one though.
I've had a player out for 9 months too, and unfortunately the season after he got it again.

I had one out for 8 months as well. I wasn't that bothered; he was going out on a free anyway.

How come sending to specialist take longer than sending home? Less chance of recurring?
I had a case for this viral infection before but it was 2-3 months, which was understandable.
