I've been struggling to find a consistent 442 since I bought FM 07 and through a combinationof experimentation and luck I believe I developed an effective 442 system. I was using one tactic for home and a second for away games, but one tactic outshone the other and as a result I've stuck with it to relative success, a few tweaks along the way of course but very very rarely.
Be warned, I've only played 18 months game time with this, and only with Liverpool - so make of that what you want...
I'm achieving a goals per game ratio of 1.9 and a goals against ratio of 0.6. So enough goals and lots of clean sheets headed your way.
I'm looking for people to try this out and let me know how they get on.

It's based on a standard 442, with specific instructions for various areas of the pitch:
GK
D R/L
DC
M R/L
MC
FC
I've not yet sorted out who's to take free kicks, throw-ins etc, which not doubt would add a little polish to results.
First season I won the EPL and the LC, season two I'm joint top but with two games in hand.
Pl W D L F A Pts
26 18 6 2 50 16 60
Won the LC again, beat AC Milan 4-0 at the San Siro in the first leg of my last 16 Champions league game, still in the FA cup too.

I'm currently on a 25 game unbeaten run, which is pretty good going. Liverpool are a decent team, but even with all my transfers thus far I'm still 5 or 6 players from having a really classy team.
Season 1 in:
John Fleck
Rivaldo (Mozambique)
Digard
Falcao (who I cannot play yet due to WP issue)
Guardado
Enyeama
Zaccardo
Micah Richards
Out:
Dudek
Kirkland
Kuyt
Diao
Hyypia
Kewell
Zenden
Finnan
Fowler
So I was stuck with Bellamy and Crouch who did really well. But I hate Bellamy so he was sold at the end of the season.
Season 2 in:
Cassini
Kerlon
Lennon
Gago
Ustari
Vardal (nice, young Norge regen)
Out:
Bellamy
Le Tallec
Cisse
Pennat
Warnock
Enyeams
Riise (****ed me off and wanted to leave for a new challenge)
These are only transfers of note, there's a few youngsters in and out but nothing to affect the first team.
So as you can see my team is a long way off from the finised article, but I'm doing fairly well with what I have.
I feel I still need a class DL and two class FC/ST and another high calibe DC to complete my team.

I must say this is a brilliant tactic!
Scores plenty. Concedes little. But it needs some tweaking to suit your players.
And when players adapt to it oh man it is a pleasure to watch them on the pitch
(+1) and KUTGW. I recommend you dl it and check for yourselves :o

Well Done Digsy,
so far in 2nd season my Southampton team has had a good start to the season with this tactic after we nearly got relegated last season and im having to play several youth team players who arent really good enough for this league.
KUTGW!!

Digsy's
So far this look like one hell of a tactic.
I am trying your tactic with Notts Forest and the pre-season results have been superb.
Will give this a good testing today as I have some free time today and will report back.
All I can say is that the tactic is well balanced and some great play and goals are scored.
GIVE IT A TRY!!!!!

I'm finding this tactic quite effective with my truly awful Elgin City side, sometimes switch to Bluntblade but overall this is my fave and has helped me to the title. I don't score much but defensively very strong.
