Team & Player Instructions, interpretations of. Discussion please.
In trying to make a consistent and reliable tactic(s) system by playing according to "Hoyle", I have found the following ambiguities.
In most tactics posted there are instructions for players for which they are not suited. E.G. Full backs given RWB often when their dribbling attributes are far too low. This means that they will invariably lose possession and be out of position, thus causing problems behind them. The same applies to any player instructions if said players attributes are not high enough to enable him to carry them out.
I use, as a standard, the SI guide for player attributes, for giving my player instructions. They are, EPL = 14+, LGE 1 = 10+ and Conf.= 7+. These are the standards given in the game tutorials at SI. So, if your full back is given RWB with a dribbling attribute of only 5, he is not going to be of much use to the team doing that, when playing in a LGE 1 team or above.
I recently read somewhere, wwfan, I think who said that it is a good idea to try to keep a balance within the team. With that in mind, I decided, rightly or wrongly, to put both my full backs onto rarely for RWB, even though one has good RWB attributes. The reasoning being, that doing it this way I will not have the weaker full back consistently caught out. Hopefully, it will also retain the required balance in the team. The same reasoning can be applied to the remaining player instructions. Those of you who differ, please, feel free to respond and tell me where I am going wrong.
I have a similar problem with the team and player insruction "mixed". It seems to me that mixed may be being used as sometimes. That is, you do not want to use often or rarely, so you instruct mixed, to imply not too often or too little.
The manual states in all cases that "mixed" means that the players will decide when and what to do. In my understanding, that is not the same as sometimes. Mixed brings into the equation, "decision" making because the players will decide when and what to do, as stated in the manual. Now if your players do not have the required attribute standard, they must surely fail in whatever they are instructed to do, therefore defeating the initial object of your team and player instructions.
The main example of using mixed is in the team instructions. There is one choice of going DBFs or mixed. I take this to mean that the team will always try to go DBFs or, if choosing mixed, the players will decide what tactic to use, as stated in the manual. Again, if the players decision attribute are not high enough, surely this will result in failure of the whole teams tactics? Cleon, wwfan uncle sam etc, your opinions wil be especially valued. Kind regards.
