I'd like to know your opinion on selecting your starting IX. If I simply select my best 11 players, and play them on every matches, my other players will be unhappy. So how do you rotate your players? Or do you just simply ignore the unhappy players?
For Goalkeeping just use your first choice until it comes to the 'easier' matches where you can use the sub, then for Defence i just rotate and rotate, pairing 2 Centre-backs up differently every game so they get used to one another, and for full-backs i look at their peformances, if they do not assist the attack like I instructed, I rest them for say one, two matches. Midfielders and Wingers are judged by condition, but C.Ronaldo always get the place before Park does. Striker wise, I look to play my most lethal striking pair until the 'easier' matches.
Look at the play value - most of the time a good indiction of his skills - that together with your assistent advise and the skills the player has and the tactic you're playing.
If he fails to play well rotate - check the coach comments of the players you have some doubts with regularly.
I have prerequisite attributes for each position, which usually leads me to buy the player in the first place. I then pick what I consider my best eleven, and pick a formation that deploys as many of them i their natural position as possible.
I think of the way I'd like to model my team. For example, who is the best AMC I can think of in real life, and what makes him good. I then look at these attributes in my team and fit players in accordingly. I will then make a shopping list for new talent where I have gaps in my plan.
As the season goes on, I tend to pick players with better morale, with players who are low on morale playing for the reserves until their confidence is back.
