well i bought this game about 3 months ago, played the first seaosnw ith juventus in serie B, got promoted and won the italian cup in my first season. loved it.

Second season I just couldnt win a game. I put it down and as friends at work have begun playing it I decided to pick it up and try again.

So I chose Newcastle and started on the EPL, hardish task due to no money but having pled FM and CM since its first incarnation and spending literally hundreds of hours on 2006 I thought well, no money aint a problem just need to do some whheeling and dealing.

Anyway sold Emre (1.5m) and Nzogbia (10m) to get osme funds and began rebuilding the side, brought in Distin / Bale . Emile Mpenza, V Hleb and then loaned in Serginho from Milan and Denilson from Arsenal.

Pick the tactic a variation of 4-2-2-2 well actually its Barca Domination tactic from FM2006 tweaked to how i like to play, go through pre seaosn ok, win the vase games nicely going along then I come to the EPL.

I am 5 games in and i have never been as frustrated as I am, last night i almost took the disc out and snapped it in half.

Constantly my strikers miss one on ones, easy chances, rebounds of the post etc, Then at the same time the computer almost scores every shot and for the 5 or so game sin the EPL I have played and replayed and replayed the same results keep cropping up.

I normally dont save before a game then reload but Ive been doing it for experimentation purposes, and nearly every game no matter what even after 5-10 reloads with different tactics etc etc the same results happen, I get beat.

Now gettign beat i can handle but its the manner of the defeats, Like I say I can have 10 shots on target and 10 off target and not score a goal with the keeper getting a 9.10 but watford / bolton / everton will have 2 shots aon target and score both.

To me its almost back to FM2005 I think it was with the superkeepers, my experience so far is quite literally ruining the 10-15 years i have spent playing CM / FM.

what am I doing wrong ?

well its obviously something to do with your tactics

perhaps you could take a look in the tactics bible and also cleons thread about sheffield united. these have been incredibly helpful to me and i now play the game very differently with much more success

Just at a glance:

1) "Chose Barca domination tactic, but tweaked it to how i like to play". Don't know if this is really what you should do if you download a tactic. When you download a tac, you are accepting to play with that system and play in the same way, unless you are completely metamorphasizing the tacic. This isn't going to work on most occasions because the tactic base is being changed and this may be why others can get good results with the tac and not you. Smaller tweaks.

2) The tactic may not be suited to your team fullstop. Or the players that you bought, as good bargains as they are, aren't the kind that seemed to be suited to a tactic created for barcelona presumably. Look for strikers with good composure and finishing firstly, then other attributes.

3) Relax. Try and have a go in the first season. Who cares where you end up, because after that, as long as you don't get sacked, you always improve, and it adds a freshness and enthusiasm to your game.
