I have this problem where I try to buy potentially great 15 and 16 year olds from clubs and after I have offered them a really nice contract they always seem to sign a new contract with there current club am I doing something wrong is there someone who has successfully done this?

think about it logically - they've been at club all their life, they have family in the area and they're very very young. Wait till there about 18 to sign them
Orrrrr, think about it technically, they have signed pre contracts with the club they are at, which is an agreement to sign a contract with the club. it cant be broken, and THATS why they dont accept your offer
Do you really think thats the problem Reading?
I mean I tried a guy that didnt live to far away and I am playing as Man Utd I know if I was 15 and was approached by Utd I would jump at the opportunity!

Thanks Arsenal
Thought there had to be something more to it than that...
I dont think its as easy as saying that if you're approached by a big club you'd jump at the opportunity. If you were 15 years old and Man Utd approached you, you might reject them because you were too scared to move away from your family. I'm talking hypothetical ofcourse. Also, you might not want to go because you dont feel you'll get enough opportunities to develop at Man Utd. Fabregas moved to Arsenal from Barca why? Not because Arsenal were a bigger team. He just felt that he has a better shot of getting first team action at Arsenal than at Barca. That comes into account irl.
But anyway, this is a game so I'm SURE that the players dont have a mind of their own and wont be thinking such things. What you probably need to do is give them a better "role". So say you've been offering them "youngster", you can try offering them "hot prospect" or "backup" and then might be happy to come to you under those circumstances. Also, I always find it advisable to give them a little more than they ask for. If they want 300/week, give them 350 or 400/week. It really doesnt effect your wages any (if you're a big club that is) and it makes them "happier".
didnt think football man was that serious lol families and that coming into it if they dont sign for me i just assume that they think more first team opportunities would come around at their current club
