I'm Liverpool in 3rd season January transfer window and need a DC. I have Carragher and Zapater who will probably be first choice (until Carra can no longer hack it) but need quality DC to cover when needed and eventually replace Carra.

I asked for some suggestions yesterday and have narrowed it down (slightly!) to the following options:

Albiol (About £27 million)
Djourou (£20 million)
Cahais (£5 million)
Bocaly - Free
Garay - (£25 million)
Cabral (£20 million) - nobody recommended him but his stats seem pretty good and his PA is 179.

Ideally wanted Micah Riochards but City now want £65 million for him!!

Please let me know which is the best deal or if there are any other gems that I may have missed, let me know.

Out of that lot, Djourou for 20M sounds an excellent deal. Albiol is too much at 27M, Garay is too expensive at 25M too and I dont rate him much as a CB either. Cahais sounds good value for 5M but depends on how he's developed. Djourou is already very good at the start of the game and just gets better. Excellent CB.

You might also look into Breno, Sakho, Criscito, Chiellini (excellent CB too), Samba.

Whatever happened to Agger though?

Personally i would go for Cahais as he will be back-up so theres no need to spend alot of money on a back-up player.

Agger became unsettled and wanted to leave. His contract expired at the end of the season so he was sold before I lost him on a free.

I know they will be back up initially, but they will have to step in for injuries and I will probably rotate a bit throughout the season.

Ultimately, they need to be good enough to eventually be first choice so they have got to be of a high standard.

How about Cabral - anybody had any experience of him - good or bad?

get these two. cahais turns out world class and bocaly is rated by my coaches as would be a leading star for any side. the good thing with them both is that they can both play cb and cahais can play dl and bocaly dr

You may want to keep an eye on Insua who plays in the reserves/ He turns out to be pretty useful

Insua is quality. Unfortunately my chairman accepted a bid and sold him - the bid was £38 million though so I can understand why.

My scouts don't rate Bocaly or Cahais that highly (scout has 20 judging CA and 20 judhing PA). He said that both of them would be 'decent signings'.

Never had Cabral but he looks good.

Cahias has just gone to Juventus on mine for £23m so must be good.
