My apologies in advance if this topic has been discussed previously.
I am trying to play by the LLM guidelines, however I have come across a grey area.
In most cases I believe the advice is if you have to ask then its probably cheating.
I have been using scouts to search the Conference and Third Division, and although I am getting no direct recommendations i.e. messages from my scouts, they are still classifying the players in these leagues e.g. 5 stars, 4 stars etc.
I then request scout reports to provide second opinions on specific players who I believe will fit into my team.
My concern is that this method may provide a greater number of players than the more traditional England or UK and Ireland searches and therefore be deemed on the dark side of grey.
I don't see why it would yield more players. More relevant players maybe since your scout is concentrating on a smaller subset of players, but not apart from that.
Your scouting them using your scouts? I cant see a problem with it but this is just my opinion. Do whatever you feel comfortable with.
You dont need are approval to play the game
If you are playing in the Conference then scouting other Conference and D3 clubs is fine, and completely realistic, particularly if you follow up the players of interest with individual scouting trips.
Not an approach I've used before though... hmmm... I guess the only question is, "Does it find too many players?" in which case it might be unrealistic.
Come to think of it, this is a good little discussion to have, because scouts its almost universally agreed are well... crap in CM 03/04 and this may be a way to play the game a little more realistically, like it was in CM 01/02.
I'd agree certainly scouts travel to different games in the country constantly to look for relevent players. IRL a manager is hardly going to send his scout to look at division 1 matches. However they do send the scouts to look at the opposition etc so it is only natural a real life manager would want a rundown of the talent in the league.
Anyway thats my interpretation of the specific league question.
As for scouts on the whole ill go with JR they are sorta well, bar stewards
OK so what limits do you place on scouting competitions... scout any competition in a country you can tour? Or scout any competition directly above you, and all below you in your own country?
