Default Scouting Players in the spirit of LLM

Hi guys,

I read throught the LLM guidelines and there wasn't a specific mention of this so I thought i would get some feedback from the LLM regulars.

I'm about to start an LLM challenge for myself, and I was wondering whether it would be in the interest of LLM games to invite as many free players as possible for trials. Understandably this should only include players near the borders of the club or within the same nation. Thanks for any advice rendered.

cheers

Rashidi

It's all about realism - if it makes sense to you, then go ahead and do it. A couple of questions you should ask yourself:

- how do you know about these players available for a free trial?

- would a real manager in your position bother to offer them a trial?

- what information will the trial give you that will help you make a decision whether or not to offer him a contract?

I think a trial for some players is realistic, but how are you finding these free players? If you just looked in the player search then it might not be realistic.
If you scouted a realistic area, found some free players, then brought them in on trial it would be no problem... but use common sense when using the player search

I tend to agree that scouting within ones area makes sense, but I come from an area which has this problem, all the club sides in my area are small, some of them hardly have scoutsm cos they can't afford to pay them. What they end up doing is putting ads in the papers to get players to come and join them for trials. Maybe I'm trying to find a common ground here, I just hope they can introduce a feature like this cos it actually happens irl to small clubs. I'm still trying to figure out what would be a fair way to do this.

'right, rashidi?

Even an old Zealot like myself would find it difficult to discredit your idea, as long as you stuck to your Club border and Nation idea, and as Jon mentioned keeping the numbers and stuff as realistic as possible.

I'd only invite guys who'd been found by scouts and maybe looked a wee bit crap to sign straight off in for a trial.

Thanks Jafer..just looking for a balance cos I've actually done volunteer work for the club with their newsletters and I remember clearly there was no scout, all they had was a trial 2 weeks after the season ended. You'd get all kinds of players, some were actually quite good.
I'll probably use my asst manager and set the filters to only filter out free players in the nation.

Sounds right

cheers

I suppose, strictly speaking, in order for your AssMan to have an opinion on who's realistic to try to sign he must have some knowledge of them
