I've noticed that, too. My strikers will win 2 headers and lose 12, but have 5 shots on target and score twice, and have a 6 match rating. Doesn't make sense. A striker only wins 2 or 3 headers in a match normally, anyway. Okay, maybe that's me as a striker because I'm ****e in the air.

Given that my teams rarely have total command of a game, I feel my strikers ought to have a few occasions to pick the ball up in midfield, for example from cleared corners. Often I'd expect them to pass it rather than shoot from 50 yards :p

Seriously though, I was more indicating the lack of touches that this guy had in the game. I didn't feel he got involved at all. His rating ought to reflect that as well as his one significant contribution.

I like to see my strikers pass the ball around. It's one of the reasons why i admire the Dutch Barcelona striker IRL.

In CM, if a striker has a 5 or 6, and no assists or goals, he'll be subbed. If he has an assist or a goal, he'll stay in even if he's got a 4 atm.

Strikers are there for one reason alone. Selfish strikers>passing strikers

Only if he is free scoring.

Creative striker with assists>Selfish striker that couldn't hit the proverbial barn door

Just realized I forgot my main point:

Should that selfish striker who scored but did nothing else all game be getting a rating of 9 or 4?

Depends on your philosophy with regard to playing positionally or giving due attention to teamwork, I'd say.

I'm often to be heard screaming at the top of my voice, "Pass inside, man!!! He's free!!!" while the dick of a striker goes it alone and misses a team opportunity to go ahead.

That dick becomes a hero, however, if he scores instead.

As for your point about a 9 or a 4, I don't really know

Which one's the passing one?
The quick one we got from Man City doesn't pass near often enough and loses the ball when the defence does catch him up after one of his runs
