I've just completed my first season on 03/04(finally!) and i can't see how i can carry on with this game.
Playing as Farnborough i found life far too easy winning the fa trophy and gaining promotion via the playoffs - i'm not bragging cos i hardly did anything apart from sign a couple of players and then click continue lots of times! 8 of my players featured in the conference select! how realistic is that?
now the finances have been sorted out by promotion and tv money etc....so there are no money worries
i have also had 7 players promoted to the under 19s, some who are 14 years old and with stats that could walk straight into the first team! (also on ridiculously high contracts incidentally)
so, where, i ask you, is the challenge? i achieved this success with more or less the ssame squad i inherited and i have not had to work hard for this at all!!!!

It's normally pretty easy to win promotion from the Conference in your first season

I'm not finding that way. ..About to round again in season four, with only one bite at the promotion cherry in my first season. Since then it has been a downhill run. The teams mentioned above have all been promoted to Div 3 in my game, so like any league there are strong & weak teams.
if as you say luke it's all in the llm sprit, you will see the difference in div 3.
The board will be tougher on you, you got promotion, so they expect, the fans expect and the players well they just want more of that cash.
stick with it, there are times when we all get dissolusioned by our saves, either an easy run and no challange, or the worst runs sine that doubble vindaloo. if you can't get into it try jobs with other teams.
PS I bet the fullam and charlton bosses didn't think wow this is a peice of **** at the moment i'll give up its too easy.
Promotion from the conference is certainly a lot easier than in CM 01/02 simply because you only need to finish top 5 to have a chance rather than top 1, but it's still not necessarily easy...I've had two different games there so far, neither completed a season yet though - with Shrewsbury I was top and going well, with Halifax I was messing around mid-table, more towards bottom-half than top.
I always find the 3rd division is the easiest simply because there are 3 auto-promotion spots plus 4 play-off with just 2 relegation places.
There are so many ways of making the game pish-pants-easy or pish-pants-hard.
If you find it too easy playing normal llm rules then just only use default tactics. Then try scouting only youth players. The game is never unchallenging. Unless, of course, you use either so-called super-tactics or sign GPG players...
