I got sacked in my latest 03/04 save because despite getting us from 11 K/week over the wages bill to 6 K/week over and arranging summer transfers with a further net reduction, we were still losing too much cash!
The board was quite satisfied with on field affairs |

Cups are for girls, it's true.
I'm having great fun at the moment in a new game started over the weekend, but then again, I'm in Brazil, so I was always going to. Bangu are the unfortunate ones getting my special treatment of mediocrity. The only problem with Brazil LLM is that there's so many teams and therefore so many news items. I'm also really trying to keep to my wage budget, where I have restructured most of the contracts to leave me only 400 quid a week over budget, as opposed to 4500 when I took over. I wasn't relegated from the State Championships (which surprised me) and am about to embark on the proper league.
Choppy waters ahead, I fear.
I also agree with the views on disregarding anything you know about 0102, it just won't translate over to 0304.

I had to shelve my Brazil game after the bug-gered it up for me.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think I have a better handle on the new game now.

In retrospect, my problem with not enjoying Huddersfield is that I had fallen back into thinking that if I spend more than 2 years in a division, then I'm a failure. That was CM3.x, if you really cared about tactics, and were aggressive about bringing in loaners. But in the new game, the battle of wits between us and the AI teams is apparently much more even. So I should have been thinking that just paying off the H'field loan while staying in Div. 2 was a triumph.
Also, I got disenchanted with the game when my team just started dropping points like mad, and (and this was the bigger problem) the scouting function to find a replacement for my creative MC with the broken leg proved so inadequate.
So next savegame, I'll just be aware before I start of how bad the scouting works. I had thought of playing as a club like QPR, or even Forest, just because it would be new for me. But I think I'll give the 3rd division another try.

While the scouting isn't ideal. It is much better than CM4 and I've found that I have been able to fill gaps in the squad in my Elgin save. In fact, I now have a Claudio Ranieri like selection problem in the midfield.
Now if I could only transfer my entire squad into the clan Elgin save... (making a list of known players to search for )

Latest revelations have shown this is not really the case, unfortunately.

Are you talking about the "bird" runs that are all the talk on the tactics board? OK, but that's an obvious exploitation I can avoid.
