To original topic (shock), I look at finances. Scouts are cheap, so if the wage budget can bear them, I'll sign 2-3 off the top (assuming I can find 2-3 who will come to my podunk nowhere-ville team).

As for the Bundesliga, I had a fun game in 01/02 with RW Essen, and had another fun Bundesliga game going when my copy of it gave up the ghost. I think it might be the most fun to play LLM in, to be honest. Two promotions still, so plenty of time to work your way to the top, a 'big' jump (as ian noted) from 2nd to 1st. And to top it off, you don't have all the extra money the English game throws at you, so going broke in the Regional is easy to do.

RE: scouts, I have found (and maybe I am just a knob here) that more than two is a waste of money. This is because it appears that only one scout can report at a time (except for one scouting next opposition, whose reports come in while your others are scouting for players). I have sent out two scouts before, one for youth, one for , say, England, and they both don't report back at the same time. First one does his scout, then the other starts. Has anyone else experienced this?

OK, my once a month, on topic post.

I have not noticed that the scouts report at different times (i.e. all from one scout and then all from another) unless one of the scouts is a lazy bustard. I notice this when I send them all off together and get a message a few days later that two of them have started their search. About a week or so later (when I have forgotten about him) the third scout then announces that he will finally start his search.

I generally start by employing 3 scouts, one on next opposition, one on youth and one on the general area where I am playing (normally UK and Ireland). As the seasons progress I may allow the poorest scout to leave after his contract finishes. However if I progress, my body of scouts will increase but rarely above 4.

Having read this back, it looks like tipping but if anyone does not scout like this, at the start, already then good luck to them.

I can't say I've noticed this. In fact, I think I can safely say I 'have' seen scouts reporting from different places at the same time. Scouting stinks in 03/04, no doubt about it. But it doesn't stink this bad that I've noticed.

Large Database is failing me again, so I've reverted to trialling every useless git who stumbles into the club's bar.

As a side-note: I've noticed that having random players selected does tend to lead to a disproportionately large number of players having Pace: 1, Acceleration: 1.
