Got the yearly new batch of youth players through the system. Usual dross, value low all except this spotty 14y. Utter carp stats, but he is valued at 100K.
Thanks for telling me game that this kid is going to be good. Did I tell you that I would of liked to have found this out for myself?
It's like a cheat. You can't tell he is good, but the game decides that you need to know straight away. Value low = carp, value high = good.

The other way it tips you off is suddenly one of your utes is making shortlists and generating interest from big clubs. I had a young striker at 16 in 3rd Div (scotland) who had English DIv 1 clubs coming for him. HIs stats weren't great, but like you I said thanks game for letting me know this...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
But isn't THAT realistic?? If you were coaching a 3rd division side, and scouts liked one of your youngsters and told their teams to inquire about them, wouldn't you assume he's good?

Aha! There's the true difference between CM and Real Life and why LLM will always be "playing the game as realistically as the game allows".
If you were in charge of a real Team you could see the development of a young player and you'd know how good he was, you wouldn't have to wait for a big scout to come and tell you.
CM will never allow you this personal interaction with your squad because it can't. All you can see is figures improving, or turning green or red or yellow and wait for a big team to approach or a big wage to appear on your books when a new youngster appears.
Great game though, eh?

Actually, that's not a bad idea. The value gives away too much information for any player, not just youth players. A player should be only worth what you deem he's worth, without the game making these suggestions. (Of course, IRL you have official 3rd party evaluations of higher division players, but probably not players in the lower leagues.)
It would make the game a whole lot harder, but the downside is people don't want to be held up by having to make decisions like that for every player in the squad. In the end you'd need to have an option to let the assistant do that for you and then you basically have what you're having now.

Not necessarily... not every manager is a good judge of talent... one man's <good player> is another's <bad player>. But if you're a lower division side, and a big side decides that player is good, you might change your mind.
Obviously the differences between a game and real life still hold true, though.
I've found that it's not really hard to ignore the values.. if a player has crap ratings, the coaches don't like him, I don't like him and his avg rating sucks, he's gone, even if he has a high value.

Oh yeah, definitely an option, like Fog of War.
I could see hundreds of posts within days of the release if it wasn't asking "WHY DON'T PLAYERS HAVE ANY VALUES????"

Hang on, there may be something in this.... it would be great if maybe you could get shot of values for your own players perhaps, and just set the 'asking price' for them, thus ridding yourself of the knowledge that there is a potential world beater in the ranks.
Or maybe not?

I pre-empted you, i was more non-committal, and more succint.
Oh, and bump.
