Got the yearly new batch of youth players through the system. Usual dross, value low all except this spotty 14y. Utter carp stats, but he is valued at 100K.
Thanks for telling me game that this kid is going to be good. Did I tell you that I would of liked to have found this out for myself?
It's like a cheat. You can't tell he is good, but the game decides that you need to know straight away. Value low = carp, value high = good.

The other way it tips you off is suddenly one of your utes is making shortlists and generating interest from big clubs. I had a young striker at 16 in 3rd Div (scotland) who had English DIv 1 clubs coming for him. HIs stats weren't great, but like you I said thanks game for letting me know this...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
You'd have to be a dopey manager not to see scouts from other clubs watching your matches and keeping an eye on the player though!

Sending in the big clubs to look at your kid is the best way for the game to let you know he's good. I don't know about anyone else, but I take my coach's comments with a pinch of salt.
Even if the Asst. Man comes to me every week and says "y'know, this kid is the new ultimate brazilian viagra spokesman" I'm not going to necessarily believe him, because he also thinks the donkey in the reserves who I can't get rid of is not bad either.
But if Liverpool ( ) come sniffing round, I know the kid must have something about him.

Just had this in my San Marino campaign...currentlly in serie B and just got 17 years old kid with value of 100 k....and my best player is worth 250 k and he has carrer average of 8.something so it is dead giveaway...but on the other hand i just put in a clausule of 5 000 000 min release so they are going to have to pay if they want him

I remember back at my Jarfalla days, I got a regen in that was woth 50K. Had it in reserves for a year, where he scored at least a goal per match. He was worth 150K, when I sold him for about 1M. I can't remember exactly.

My CM4 save had a great AMC come through the ranks, and even though I didn't play it long enough (due to CM03/04's release) to get him established as a first team regular, he scored a handful of goals, including an ET winner in a cup quarterfinal against Tampere Utd.
In my CM03/04 save, before getting a job offer following a massive falling out with the board, I had a young AMC again score, but on his debut. Since leaving I kept track of him, and he's not progressed, I feel sorry for the lad, as he had a chance.

I'm with DD on this, the 'only' legitimate giveaway is when the scouts come circling your kid like vultures. I never trust the coach's opinion. He usually offers up someone whose sprint could be timed by the turns of the moon.

Okay, okay, I concede: enemy scouts circling your youth like buzzards is probably legit. Then the ass man, as you note, reckons he is a "useful Mmember", I wish the ass man was a "useful member", he is more like a "member" than anything else.

This is one of the inherent flaws of CM. The value is based on their ability or, in the case of youngsters, their potential abilty. It would be much better (though probably more complex to program) if it was based on reputation.
For instance, if you have a crap striker who gets a few lucky goals in a few games, you'd like his value to increase so you could cash in. But CM will look at his ability, and still give you a low value based on that.
I think there is a limited affect of reputation, but not enough IMO.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
I think it'd be cool if there weren't values listed for your players (or all players, for that matter) until you (or an AI manager) set one.
