I'd rather player interaction was improved. I'd like to be able to have a chat with a player after training to discuss his disciplinary record rather than being forced to give him a public "official warning" or let him get away with it. I'd like to be able to tell players why they're dropped, give them an extra day off or cancel a day off, team talks at ht and ft, and so on...
IMHO, asking for a stadium expansion is like a workaround for the problem of being in the top division with a 2500 capacity stand. IRL it just wouldn't happen, and it's as if the AI isn't smart enough to realise this so you need to remind it occasionally.
As mkus said, the manager isn't going to say "can you just make the stand bigger". In fact, I would think nowadays he is more likely to say the opposite - "can we use some of that cash on a player instead of improving the stand?"
I also think it's a slippery slope from that sort of manager contracts to setting the price of the pies at half time. Let TCM keep that kind of carp "feature".
Looking out the window to see if the ground is being constructed? Poofy!
Cosmetics like this are not needed. Really, I doubt many managers would ask about expanding the stadium, unless it had a direct effect on gaining entry into the league above.

If you start going down the route of contracts and ultra-realism, then why not have boards block approaches from other teams when they try to obtain your services, or the board suing you for breach of contract, forcing managers to go on "gardening leave", etc.

I never said that demanding a ground expansion should be included as a managers contract demand in FM'05, but i do like the idea of better contract negotiations, requesting more transfer funds before signing/resiging, better wages all as a clause in the contract could be interesting, plus also being able to include release clause's, having the option to say that if a Prem Team offer's you a job you can go, but if its a 1st div club then the board can refuse the approach, it happens in real life, it happens to our players (min fee release clause's) so why cant it happen to us ?
The game is, or at least it should be, about managing a team, and achieving a goal with them. I don't give a fig about manager contracts, and all I can see it doing is making the game more bloated and slower than ever.
I mean, after contracts, what else would people expect from their game?
THE TOMMY DOHERTY OPTION Get to see the stats of the Physio's wife before pressing the "have affair" button.
THE DAVID PLEAT OPTION Have the option to leave 1st team training to the Assistant Manager while you go off kerb-crawling.
THE GRAEME SOUNESS OPTION This feature allows you to fire your scouts and only accept information about new players from telephone calls about the even-better-younger-brother of a great AC Milan player from his agent. Play him in the first team and wonder why he never rates better than 2.
I could go on, but the fact is if we use the excuse "it happens in real life" the game will stop being a game and will become ever so dull.
Whilst agreeing with what's been said (the manager wouldn't have a say in expansion), it'd be nice if there was some sort of progress news item (and with training improvements), which I think was what the original poster meant.
Stuff like "Temporary capacity 15000, rising to 22000 in April" or "Youth academy currently being built, due for completion March 2005"
It's a nonsense that a stadium just increases overnight by 10000 or whatever the minute you get promoted.
I have to disagree about manager contracts. I think they'd be a nice touch of realism, if done right. I don't think they should include every bit of nonsense a person can think of, but I don't think it unrealistic at all for a manager to say what kind of grounds and facilities the club would move towards in his negotiations. At least if his reputation merits it.
And there's a difference between trying to include every boneheaded idea a RL manager comes up with and things that would naturally be part of said discussions.

I've been accused of many things, but being on-topic in this forum is not one of them. I'm offended.
