Several seasons into a game and while in Div 3, i loaned a DMC from some div 2 side, and at the end of the season, seeing as my scout hadn't found someone better, i signed him permanently.
While i had him on loan, the guy played out of his skin in every match. When i signed him, he never got more than a 5  We stayed in Div 3 that season, so opposition was the same really, and the team wasn't improved significantly (so he wasn't exposed by higher quality team-mates). I've seen this happen in many savegames in CM03-04 BTW, it's not happened just once.
Well, what the heck happened? Has this occured to others as well?
Just one of those things, happens IRL aswell. Frequently, I would say.
Watching my local team, we have had many such situations occur. Its mindboggling really, and frustrating for a manager I would expect - maybe your player is sitting in the comfort zone now he is on a nice contract and hasn't got to bust a gut to impress you to sign him permanently anymore
Guys, do you really think that the game is that intelligent ??? lol. look at the discussion about "team" training and the intelligence of the scouts, do you really think they would get a loanee to play like that when he gets a proper contract ??? lol

No, not at all, it just feels more realistic that way though!

I see where the wolves fan is coming from. I cannot speak for the rest of the LLMers. but instead of going in depth into the cm code, talking about how clever the A.I is and how the A.I uses the scouts. I just don't want to know. Knowing all this stuff about the game spoils it for me. I would rather not know and just put it down to just one of those things that happen irl.
Please don't laugh at someone just because they give their opinion.
I agree with what the Wolvesbloke said - players do indeed bust a gut when you might offer them a contract (i.e. a mediocre player who's short term contract's about to expire), then when you sign them permanently they start playing crap.
Not exactly the rule, but it happens all too often.
I agree with Craig0 sometimes the game shows suprising depth and subtlety, whether it is a part of the program or just the romanticism of our role play is not an issue. Enjoy it and don't think too hard about it otherwise you spoil the magic.

Actually, yes. Marc Vaughan has said in the past that some players' dedication changes when they are up for contract renewals and the like.
Why is it that the more i play this game, and the more i come on these forums i start getting the feeling that the latest game was rushed, much like CM4 was rushed, simple things like the scouting were never finished properly so leaving pplayers with major grudges about the game as a whole, but small little things like the attitude of a loan player has been programmed into it. I personally didnt pay £25 or so for an unfinished game, surely all products sold, must be fit for the reason intended and a half completed game isnt fit for what it was intended for.
In regards to laughing at a fellow poster, i wasnt laughing at them personally, was just laughing at the scenario as i asked about something simple like "team training" and scout helping out with tactical training but was told that wasnt programmed, so laughed at the idea that they would have programmed in the loanee's attitude. How wrong was i !
