Exactly. And's that's also a nice riposte for those who claim that this year's first division champion will be the worst ever. |

I don't know, West Brom aren't a bad side.
You get no prizes for second place, even if it's second place with style...

No, West Brom are not bad, nor are Sunderland. That's not what the media say though.
Now, if West Ham or Ipswich (who are of course the best side in the division according to Mr. Potato Head) were winning it instead of struggling into the playoffs, the media would say that Division 1 is stronger than ever.
btw, I would take the prize for second place right now.

It's a poor division 1 though. If we (Cardiff) win our game in hand then we are two points off the playoffs. We would be a laughing stock in the Prem without serious investment. I don't want us to finish in the playoffs - winning a two legged semi and a one-off final is not beyond the realms of possibility. Give us another year or so.

I'm surprised to see Ipswich doing so well.
I reckon they'll be beaten in the playoffs |

mkus, I know what you're getting at, but yourselves, Wigan and Crewe (I think they were the third promeoted team last year, right?) are a darn sight better than those that were relegated, and IMHO, West Ham, West Brom and Sunderland are a better threesome than Portsmouth, Wolves and Leicester. The same accusations about quality weren't made last year, when I think the division was slightly weaker as a whole, certainly not dramatically different. It seems that suddenly Division 1 is crap because a few unfashionable sides like us, you, Wigan and Millwall are doing well. and no-one has run away with it like Fulham or Portsmouth in recent years.
And as for the struggling if you go up bit, people conveniently forget how well Birmingham did after barely beating us in the playoff, and our team is much better now than then. Still think it will be tough and will expect us to "battle bravely" if we should get up. Not so sure we will though. Is that a Sunderland I hear behind me?

Paradoxically, whilst I don't want us in the playoffs this year, I don't want us to lose any games either...

No, we have to find some system where we can win every game without qualifying for the playoffs. |
