Just a quick question regarding youth development.
I have recently taken the job as San Marino manager (having retained all players in the hope I could take this, er, prestigious post, and lo and behold in the 4th season their previous manager has stepped down), on top of my post as Leyton Orient manager who I have taken to the Championship.
I have had my scouts at Orient take a look at as many San Marino players as I could find. They have come back quite favourably about 5, 2 of which , according to my scouts, have the potential to be leading stars at a championship side.
Now the thing is these players are either at San Marino based clubs so they don’t have any competitive fixtures, or are in the San Marino club side U21’s and only play games within the Italian youth league.
Will they ever be able to reach the potential my scouts have predicted for them here? Or should I snatch them up for my Leyton Orient side and hope I can get the best out of them in England.
The training facilities I have at Leyton Orient are same as of the start, although my chairman has promised to develop them. I do have some quite good coaches; I have a limited budget but have around 5 stars on all my training (apart from which is 4). But the likelihood of them braking into my first team is small. I don’t really want to risk league status on playing San Marino youngsters.
