When you select players for European matches, you need a minimum to be training with you and a minimum training in your country, right?
I never really understood this. I just selected my team for the upcoming Champions Cup qualifiers, and the 25 players that I though would be best, wasn't sufficiant enough to cover 4 players trained by me and four trained in this country. I couldn't really figure out why they weren't training with me. I would have thought that all the players train for me. Is it that my training facilities aren't good enough, so they may have to go elsewhere to keep their stats up?
I noticed recently that the two physical trainings had no coaches at all, which
I must have done by accident. I'm not sure how long it was happening, at least a month at most 5 months. Maybe this lead to it in someway?

I am not sure, but I think that players have to be trained by you, or trained in your country for 3 years betwen ages of 16 - 21.

Correct. Players will qualify as trained in your country if they spent three of their formative years in the country you're playing in, and trained by you (or, more specifically, your club) if they've spent three years at your club before the age of 21.

Ah right, thanks lads.
I thought that they were being trained at other clubs or something, which explains the title
So I can buy a player at 18 and in three years, he'll be under trained by me?
Just one question, when you say between 16-21, is it when the player turns 21 or just before he joins 22?

It should be when the player turns 21 not when they turns 22

how does that work with feeder clubs?
say i get a non-EU regen at 17, I then loan him out to my Polish feeder for 3 years to get him an EU passport at 20.
Would he then count as a home grown player considering he could only spend 1-2 years before the 21/22 cut-off at my club?

| that won't work, they must have 17 when they go to your club, 18 wont work because they still wont make 3 full years in your club when they reach 21, i once tried taht with a kid that made 18 years old in 30 june and i signed one year later, he spent 3 years at my club and it didn't worked...

Considering how often this question appears I'm surprised SI haven't included the basic definitions into the relevant rules section .
