In 3rd season with West Ham and after coming 4th last season (despite my players getting just over 7s) I am wanting to push on and challenge for the league.

My team is (4-4-2 Attacking):
gk - foster or green
lb - bale (backup konchesky)
rb - vanden borre (backup amaral)
cb - a.ferdinand
cb - kompany (backup maduro)
lm - guardado (backup gamst pedersen)
rm - cardenas (backup pedro leon)
cm - reo coker (backup benayoun)
dm - joey barton (backup noble/giles barnes. board made me sell mascherano)
st - ashton (backup strikers dagoberto and millan)
st - sturridge (10m summer signing)

Any tips as to how I can move on (either players or tactics)?

Don't know if you're playing 2006 or 2007 but I'm West Ham in FM2006.

Well I am in the 12/13 season, p of the league, undefeated in 24 and even managed to put 7 past l'Arse at Upton Park.

At home, I play a 4-2-3-1 formation and away 4-4-2 counter.

Best team would be:

GK: Casillas
LB: Del Horno
RB: Vanden Borre
CB: Huth
CB: De Jong
LM: van Persie
RM: Jenas
CM: Noble
CM: Reo-Coker
ST: Tevez
ST: Ashton or Carlton Cole
