What are the main pre-requisits of marking?

I always imagined that for Man Marking it would be Marking, and Zonal it would be Positioning.

Does marking also depend a lot on how a team attacks? Or should you defend as your team is best adapted to? In this case i would say Man Marking for stronger teams and Zonal for Pacey.

I originally tried zonal marking and it didn't work. I moved on to man marking and have been greatly improved from set pieces because of it.

I hopefully correctly assuming you are referring to aerial marking because what I would recommend would be man marking. Yes, marking is obviously important but other key components are strength and heading. It's all very well having 20 for marking but if you fall over like a sack of wet spuds everytime a player jumps with you then it doesn't really matter.

Definitely consider strength when marking, and make sure you check your player instructions in regard to what type of player to mark.
