I am playing as Watford. I just managed to stay up after the first season. I have definitely got players good enough to stay up quite comfortably:

GK-Foster
LB-Pinola
RB-Paulsen
CB-Shittu
CB-DeMerit
LM-Babic
RM-Young
CM-Ilola
CM-Francis
AMC-Koruc (I think that's his name..)
FC-Aliadiere or Forssell.

I play 4-4-2 with an AMC instead of a second SC and play direct/attacking. I close down often, except for the defence who close down rarely and have an ultra defensive mindset. I have employed some good new staff, inc. Eranio from Milan as ass. manager. All the players are training well (stats are constantly rising) and morale is superb. But I have 1 win (Birmingham) and 2 losses (Charlton and Man City) from the first 3 games of the new season. Our form is just really unconvincing. Players don't necessarily get bad ratings, either - we just lose...
Any suggestions?

Ah, well. You may have just given me the first hint - I'm not much more detailed than that, I'm afraid. I don't know what other info to give.

I play direct passing with an attacking mentality. Zonal making. Defence set to ultra defensive mindset. Full backs stay back at corners and free kicks. Big centre back set to near post flick on at attacking corners.

Basically, it's not obvious where it's going wrong, except that none of it seems to work - we leak loads of goals (Charlton did us 5-0) and we don't score. A lot of my "better" players receive average ratings (6s), despite reacting well in training.

I can't work out if it's a prmoblem with my formation, style or what. All I know is that tactics that served me well in FM06 are getting me nowhere in 07.....

Nah, it's just playing up.

Nothing I try works. I piled through all the good tactics tips on here and still lost every game. I've seen this before with earlier versions, where you're just doomed to lose - it also injures every new player I sign. Once he's injured, it injures everyone elsse in his position. I had to play a match with no first team centre backs AND no first team strikers.

Should I re-install it? Or will the patch sort out this kind of problem?

I have just tried Watford, I followed Cleon's guides closely and managed to finish 9th, which ain't too bad really.

Just write down the formation, team instructions and how you set up each of the individuals.

That is if you have won the league with Watford in your first season.

i play with 442.

very low creative freedom for midfielder and defender.

normal creative freedom for striker and winger.

mixed passing for midfielder and winger.

short passing for striker and defender.

very narrow - i set 1 only.

defensive line i give 7 or 8.

team mentality defensive. i give 6 or 7

winger i give normal mentality.

fast and clinical striker i give mentality same as team mentality and foward run.

another target striker with high jumping and strengh set to 14 mentality with mixed foward run.

winger foward run alway and the other mixed.

defender and midfielder all foward run off.

closing down 6 for team and alway for strikers.

tight marking for team except strikers.


i m boring to write down the tactic but i more interest to post my tactic here and let ppls download and try it.
