Whats the best instructions to set to the GK to get the best out of him??i always seem to struggle to get my GK's having a good season!!

Do you want a conservative keeper that stays on his line all the time or a sweeper keeper that comes out and clears up long balls?

well, wenever my GK clears it it comes back to me!!so 1 that stays on his line, i have 2 main gks with low eccentricity(think thats it)

i think it's coded in the game where my gk does everything i don't want him to do. example i've got a small sc, so i tell my gk pass to a defender, now i just sit back and watch my gk kicking the ball up field every time for the defender to head straight back

then give him a low mentality - 5/6 and he will stay in goal. Low creative freedom.

Recommended Stats for a Sweeper Keeper are;

Acceleration, decisions, composure, anticipation, concentration, Positioning, command of area, agility, stamina, jumping, strength and aerial ability

Other

Throwing, pace, concentration, composure, bravery and anticipation.

Recommended settings

Mentality - At least 10 or above (the more attacking though the more risky)

Closing Down - This should also be around 10 any less and the keeper will not close down when balls are outside the 18 yard box.

Tackling - Easy so he doesn't get sent off

The second way is the more so called "normal approach" where the keeper is quite reserved about coming out of his box and is slightly more cautious than the sweeper keeper.

Recommended Stats for a Normal Keeper are;

Decisions, composure, anticipation, concentration, Positioning, command of area, agility, stamina, jumping, strength and aerial ability

Other

Throwing, pace, concentration, composure, bravery and anticipation.

Recommended settings

For a normal style keeper;

Mentality - 6

Closing Down - rarely about 4

Tackling - Easy so he doesn't get sent off

If you haven't tried it already - give him some individual encouragement before a game

i keep ordering my gk to "defender collect" but he never does that.

Maybe your defenders are marked, or your keepers mentality is too high, or he has trie through balls set to mixed or often, or you have counter attack ticked and he is merely following that instruction because he sees an opportunity?
