May - Final Update

So, the league's long won, and two cup finals stand between Ajax and the perfect season.

Dutch Cup

PSV 2-1 Ajax - So near, yet so far. No domestic treble this time.

Champions League

This will go down as an epic champions league final. Liverpool V Milan eat your heart out. We had goals galore (including an own goal), comebacks galore, and a sleeping giant's awakening. Hell, we even had a 90th minute red card!

Against Barcelona - Show AML/R onto weaker foot. Against all other teams - same tactic regardless, sometimes going to pass down flanks / 20 width / striker sidearrows when they'd go 4-2-4.


And... I'm done. Won the league, won the champions league, only a 2-1 cup final defeat to PSV tarred the season.

Had a go with this challenge as I love managing Ajax. Big apologies in advance as I did sign 1 player(Omar Esparza) but he only played 6 times.

Anyway I used my favourite shape and set up the tactic how I like my Ajax teams to play. The tactic is available at fmdownloads for people who would like to try it out. It is called Ajax Challenge and is in the 4-3-3 folder.

Although I had a few terrible performances notably a 5-1 defeat at PSV the season finished with amazing success winning the treble.

In the Champions League group stage we won our group easily beating Benfica 8-0 and also beating Inter Milan home and away. On the road to the final we knocked out Sporting Lisbon Real Madrid, Manchester United and then beat Chelsea 3-1 in the final.

I have to say one huge factor with the success was Huntelaar. He was a monster scoring 54 goals in 47 appearances (2 as sub)

Nice one. I'm still gutted over the dutch cup final myself. It seems like the only real black mark on my season.

In a way i guess it's a good thing?

It proves that our tactics weren't exploiting some sort of diabloesque flaw in the system, but were just nice, solid tactics that produced success with a decent team. :-p

Well finished the league, managed not to loose a single game! There where more than a few games I should have lost! One of them was the Cup Final, won 3-0 but it really was not that one sided (see pic below!). Beat Real Madrid in the Champions League 3-1 and won the League!

This is the first time I've bothered reading any of the tactics guide thingies (wwwfan's and Cleon's). So I am well chuffed! Oh, I did the same as r0x0r in regards to the Barcelona type formation (force onto weaker foot for the wingers!), worked a treat. Also played a flat 4-4-2 against R.Madrid as I thought Sneijder would become a little isolated? That worked out ok too!
