Ok so far i'm in february of first season (07/08)

Im arsenal. I'm 9 pts behind chelsea 1 pt behind man u and tottenham.

Iv'e got rid of Rosicky, Adebayor, Toure and Denilson. (I'm a massive fan of all but something has to give. I want to domesticise the team, only a little however.)

I've bought Owen he's doing great as a lone striker and Roman Riquelme he's capable.

I raised a load of cash and had a nice budget to start with and have landed Micah Richards for £33million.

I have just missed the transfer window. And going to be at the end of the season.

What I want to know is...

1. I need an English Right Winger/AMC F RC
was looking at Luke Young? Any thoughts.

2. I need a GK to cover for Lehman who has been great for me. Maybe Robinson but I don't know if this would anger fans due to rivalry???

3. Maybe thinking of Carrick for CM any ideas on what he's like ar alternatives.

4. Other players i'm contemplating buying are Buffon and Totti. How much could I get these for and would they be any good??

If someone could take the time to read through these and give me some reply i'd be grateful.

not really getting your domesticise arguement really.... sell best midfield talent in denilson and buy a 30 year old playmaker who causes trouble and isnt getting any more british...

but never mind.. who am i to argue...


1. luke young as a winger?! i sincerely hope you mean ashley young. also giles barnes and bentley are in with a shout.. bentley especially, he's an arsenal boy too

2. get preston edwards in , develops nicely.. also dont go for robbo, he isnt up to standard... almunia (who becomes british soon) is great .. go for ben foster

3. not carrick, get michael johnson or reo coker if you have too..

4. totti.. dont bother... would be over priced and over rated and for the money buffon would cost (over 20 mil) you can get better keepers imo , or least keepers that develop better

Get Michael Johnson for CM, he's god like on my Man City game.
Also go for Banega and Lulinha now whilst they are young and cheap.

Welshace you make good points for Riquelme over denilson.

Real Madrid offered £20.5 Million for him and the board made me sell him. I was gutted but gave me cash for Richards.

But I didn't need anymore young talent I needed somebody now. Also I want my potential players to be English.

1. I did mean Ashley yeah sorry. I'll check out Giles barnes he's on my shortlist and wasn't sure about bentley i'll give him a go. The only thing is usually I play a narrow tactic and would prefer a winger that could play centrally too.

3. I have made bids for Johnson and Reo Coker but not enough. I thought seen as though it was going to be a big purchase I may as well go for Carrick. But thanks i'll go all out for Johnson as I do rate him.

Why are you after Ashley Young or Giles Barnes? If you want a right winger you have a great one in Walcott. Those two are not any better than Theo and you can retrain this kid into an awesome AMR. With his pace he'll always get past his man and put in a good cross. Also, Ashley Young is better on the left. You could make a cheeky enquiry into Wright-Phillips. He's good too (unlike real life!).

GK - Yeah Preston is a good one. Turning out well in my current Arsenal game. If you want someone who can play immediately, try Robert Green. He's much better than Robinson.

CM - Agree with others. Michael Johnson if you want someone English. You might want to sign Jose Baxter for the future too. Turns out brilliant. Lee Cattermole & Mark Noble are two other possible targets.

Buffon - he would cost you more than 50M mate. He loves Juventus and they love him. So dont expect anything close to a decent price on him. He's valued at over 20M so you can nearly triple that before you could hope to land him. I was fooling around in another game and tried to sign him. After a lot of negotiation, the lowest I got it down to was 78M! But that was just a game where I was finding my feet in FM08.

Totti - no, not worth it. He too would cost you more than 30M.

Henry - yep. I got him back in one save in season 2. He's happy to come as he hardly plays for Barca sadly. I got him for as low as 14M. But you should be able to land him for anything between 14-22M. Well worth it as he'll give you atleast 3 more years at his best. I got him and he scored a hat-trick against Man Utd in the Community Shield - his first match back!!


Dean Ashton is decent too. He's very consistent for sure but I wouldnt sign him. He's out of contract in season 3 and if he doesnt sign a new one, I'll probably consider it. But not otherwise. If you're happy going for a BRITISH player rather than only English, you could look at Kevin Doyle. Good player.

Other potential English players you can look at are:
- Michael Mancienne, Jack Hobbs, Nedum Onuoha, Steven Taylor for your defence. You could look to get Fabrice Muamba back from B'ham. He turns out into a good DM.

- Jose Baxter, Scott Sinclair, Michael Woods, Andy Carroll, Daniel Sturridge & James Vaughan for your midfield/attack.

Walcott just isn't cutting it for me at the moment. I would love to play him over Hleb but thats not happening and Hleb is poor.

Wright Phillpis isn't interested but yeah good idea. I've scouted Robert Green they told me to steer clear. I take what they say with a pinch of salt, but wondered if there were any fantastic options.

And yeah I think I should retry with Walcott.
