I must admit, I never spend loads of money in FM, I get more enjoyment out of signing players for nowt and making them worth loads;
value doesn't matter, if it was Kaka, then post and say so...
I signed Guilherme (striker) from some brazilian club, I was FC Basel at the time and he scored loads!!! I love Basel and Guilherme just because of that, I was so sad, that I even bought a Basel shirt from the internet.
This probably belongs in the good players guide, but I'm asking for an opinion rather than fact. What difference that makes, I don't know, but please don't shout.
Ben Foster for Arsenal. its hard enough signing from a rival, its annoying when they transfer list his injured ass for just £2.7M, as soon as pompey bid, they reject thier bid and remove him from the list...
but its great when your £9M for a keeper goes towards back to back titles and an injury free season :thup:
Fabio Ferreira. I signed him for free after being released by Chelsea and he's my best player for my MK Don's side in his two seasons so far. He dominates the right wing, and won the has been much of the reason why my side is doing well.
I play the MLS with Toronto FC. I bought a Brazilian named Dalvan for 30k. He was my best signing because:
1) he is my all time games & goals leader
2) he is the best striker on the Canadian national team (after 3 years he took citizenship).
3) my goal is to build up the national team by signing players and getting them citizenship.
The key is always paying nearly nothing, developing, and then seeing how good the player gets in my opinion.
I also enjoy finding these weird players who eventually get really good in real life. For example, in CM02-03, I signed Jo and Luis Fabiano for like 50k. Now, they are much better!
Some (Regen?) fella called Lopez.
Left winger who I signed for some compo at age 17.
Couple of years later he was valued at £18M and every other team had a hard-on for him.

Should still be in the Good Player section as it's mentioning specific players which gets frowned on in the GQ section and will just turn into a good player thread anyway. So I've moved it there.
I've had some brilliant attacking players in my various games, but the young Man United striker Christopher Fagan, who I got on loan and then on a free transfer on my old Livingston game was really brilliant. He won the young player of the season award (or whatever they call it) in the SPL and scored tonnes of goals, even getting scoring from the halfway line against Celtic on Boxing Day in front of the TV cameras which is one of my favourite FM moments.
