Has anyone else got the distinct impression that 03/04 was tested for LLM compatability by three goats on their way home after a night on the razzle?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm certain 03/04 is a good game. From a certain position and with a certain bias, I'm in no doubt that the game looks and plays well. But that position, and that bias is not one I'm privy to.
I simply cannot reconcile what I see in the 2D engine with anything approaching football, from my side at least. I get better players than the opposition, I develop formations which exploit my oppositions' weaknesses and give my players carefully considered individual instructions, and what do I get?
My centre-back and goalkeeper average 50 passes per game: back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, before one of them finally concedes possession.
My defenders seem unaware of the concepts of either marking or the offside rule and enjoy "Short passing" the ball 50 yards in the air to my strikers.
I once saw one of my midfielders stand in the centre-circle for 5 minutes while play went on all around him - turning around now and then.
Does the AI manager have player instructions I'm not worthy of? Am I missing a huge chunk of the game? Is it just me?
I'm sure that playing as ManUre or Phoney Madrid gives a highly acceptable notion of reality in the 2D game, but if I have to watch my superior players balls another game up against 9 men simply because the testers didn't do their job properly, I'm going back to commentary only. If nothing else, at least you can't SEE how bad your players are.
And I'd love to think that no-one else has this problem, but since I've had it in every single save I've tried to run with, I doubt that. But still, it'd be nice to know.
Remember that the 2d match engine is only a means to an end. The actual 2d game you are shown does not have any bearing on the result. I.e your player passes the ball straight to the opposition and they score. If your player didn't than they would have scored from a corner or a penalty. Or whatever.
Play a game with 'text-only' and you'll realise the actual circumstances involving the goal don't matter (as in players doing stupid things not your defender being beaten to the ball by a striker with better positioning, jumping etc)
I started testing the game with Build 8 in CM4, and I think the released game for CM4 was build 60 odd. The 2D an't perfect, but it has come a long way since the scary days of B8, which my NDA stops me from discribing to you in detail. Lets just say it was "interesting".
Couldn't agree more in what you are saying turnip. It could be better and I'm sure it will be better, but there is just so much you can tweek in the 2D, before saying "Thats the final cut for CM0304" One of the probelms in tweeking something is that it can have a roll on effect.

Nope. This is not true.
Your statements are so obviously wrong, that I am too bored to explain, especially since I would have to use so much effort not to break the rules of this forum.
To sum it up....you 're wrong.
