I wonder if any manger has ever stayed in the lower leagues by choice IRL?
I can see it now, "sorry Mr. Chairman, but now I've got you promoted to Div 1 I'm going to have to quit and start again at one of the conference new boys. It's so much more _real_ down there"

Wasn't there a British Manager who resigned his job as PL leader manager to take a Division 3 job??? (5 to 10 years ago if I recall correctly)
Not that I recall. I can think of cases where the manager "retired" or "needed a break" and then realized they couldn't live without the stress so had to start again at the bottom, but I don't remember anyone resigning from a PL club explicitly to join a LL club.
After getting Blackpool promoted to the Prem on CM 00/01 I promptly resigned and took over the Everton job back in division 1... Not quite the same but a step in the right (wrong) direction!

Strangely enough I've won the Champ League (with an English club) without ever having won the EPL in any game.

Quite right. Brian Little and Peter Taylor spring to mind.
