The only time I remember seeing the mentor message was completely inappropriate. I had taken over a club two weeks previously and listed a player who was never going to get near my first team. How I got to be his mentor is anyone's guess.

I do tend to be a little more forgiving of a slump in form from a player who has come through the ranks and given me good service, but if a player isn't up to it or starts misbehaving they're gone.

Reason not to list a player? Well, maybe if he had some sort of comedy name I'd probably keep him.

Yeah, this has happened to me too. I still sold his arse because he was crap and on 50k p/a.

Generally, if they perform, they stay. Otherwise they're gone, mentor or no mentor

Mentor shmentor. He would be out on his ear if he didn't fit in the team and was on quite a a bit of wage. If he was on something silly, like £100 p/w I may think about keeping him.

If they claim you are their mentor and are angry with you, they obviously don't love you that much
