Santa Catarina State League 2004:

With my bits and parts squad of youngsters and loanees we look stronger than last season but it was a matter of seeing if they all gelled. We had some defensive frailties at times but ultimately our consistent form ensured we topped the league table at the end of the 18 home and away rounds.

Right before the finals a big Argentinian club came in for my star young striker (averaging over 8.5 and a goal a game) but the offer was well short of my valuation so I rejected it. A month later he still isn't happy but some bigger clubs are now circling and I hope to get a much larger fee, otherwise he's staying.

We moved into the semis and finished off Joinville with wins home and away, but the young striker was below par. Criciuma were our opponents in the State League final after disposing of 2nd placed Figuirense who had been impressive in the league phase.

2-1 wins home and away secured the title, with the youngster back in form.

Somewhere early in the campaign we crashed out of the Brazilian cup in round 1.

I am trying to secure two of my loanees on Bosmans, but another 2 look like being sold out from under me by their home clubs.

Back to the loan market for me before our first season in National Division 2 kicks off.

Debt: 1m pounds and rising by the day.

KUTGW!

At least I think so. I'm thoroughly confused by the league structure, so you could be doing crap and I'd be none the wiser. You did use the p-word though, so I guess things are OK!

Every season you start with your state league, and teams from all the national league divisions (plus some from outside?) take part. All the state league (stage?) winners play each other to become state league champions. No promotion.

Then the national leagues kick off where you can move up and down. A couple of cups too. No off season in Brazil.

IIRC.

Yeah once you become a regular state league winner, the Champions Cup with the other state league winners fills up the 2 months until the National league starts. Also the final stages of the Brazilian Cup are played in this time as well. Things can get very very hectic for a supposed off-season

The Santa Catarina State Champion doesn't seem to get an invitation to the Champions Cup

Sort it SI!!

More seriously I may be forced to look at other clubs as I really enjoyed that little tournament in my last Brazilian save

A big bid just came in for the star striker

Being a small club in a lot of debt meant I had to sell him when offered a million quid. I also offloaded another good young striker. That meant I got out of debt and I secured the services of another defender, and made the loan deals of a goalkeeper and striker permanent.

The lesson in this, don't be afraid of selling.

*prepares for relegation*
