Not really, but it will be us who have to live with the new name. We used to have Marathon Bars, changed to Snickers to suit the US market. We used to have Opal Fruits, changed to something else (I cant remember Starbursts or something) to suit the US market. Oil of Ulay became Oil of Olay to suit the US market and now FM becomes MLS Manager. English kids in a few years won't remember that we used to have a game called football.

I understand what you're saying about those other name changes, but for some products a name change makes sense, in this case--and it will still be called Football Manager there so I don't see how it's really an issue. (Not to mention, we didn't invent the word soccer, which has it's origins in England of all places.)

from what i read i thought that it was only going to be in the USA that it would be called MLS soccer, not over here in the UK. correct me if i am wrong.

as long as the game never becomes socccer manager..(knowing that there is probably already a game called that)

Don't agree with that. This is, as far as I can see, simply local branding for the US market, where the game has never been sold before.

And if you only knew about Mars bars

You are probably right, but in my (ever so long) lifetime I have seen so many comapnies with good products desparate to get in to the US market. They all finish up dependent on the US market and the rest of the world can go hang.
I predict within a few years the game will be sold worldwide as MLS manager.

Maybe Soccer Manager, but not MLS Manager, unless it was MLS specific, which would be loony.

I do honestly think it was just to point out to US users. Afterall, they did just get done with a big design your own logo competition for the Football Manager name.

And what mkus said, MLS specific would be loony, even to be released over here as simply MLS specific.
